CONGRESSWOMAN MANNING ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR LOCAL HEAD START PROGRAMS

June 29, 2021

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06) announces $4,747,007 for Head Start programs in Forsyth County. Congresswoman Manning helped secure the grant funding as part of the American Rescue Plan. Family Services Inc. will use this funding to help Head Start programs keep educators on the payroll and get students back into the classroom.

“A quality education begins even before students enter elementary school. This investment will help our local Head Start programs continue to prepare North Carolina’s children for a future of success, and help parents get back to work and grow our economy while their children are safe and cared for,” said Congresswoman Manning.

North Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District is home to the largest Head Start program in the state, run by Guilford Child Development. Last month, Congresswoman Manning visited Staley Center, a Head Start program located in High Point, North Carolina, where she read to eager young students.

This funding for Head Start programs comes in addition to $1.3 billion Congresswoman Manning secured to help North Carolina reopen childcare facilities safely, keep workers on the payroll, and lower costs for hardworking families.
