Congresswoman Manning Announces Virtual Guest for President Biden’s First Address to a Joint Session of Congress

April 27, 2021

Greensboro, N.C. – Today, Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06) announced that she has invited Davida Henderson, a Winston Salem resident and Novant Health employee, to be her virtual guest for President Biden’s first address to a joint session of Congress. Henderson is a native of Guilford County who is currently working in clinic administration with Novant Health. Since the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccine, Henderson has been a regular volunteer at Novant Health community vaccination pop-up sites and has served as a leader of the mass vaccination site located at Hanes Mall in Winston Salem.

“Tomorrow evening, President Biden will present his vision for our nation to build back better by overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic and building our communities back stronger and more equitably than before,” said Congresswoman Manning. “It’s my privilege to welcome Davida Henderson as my virtual guest. Since the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccine, Davida has worked countless hours to ensure that members of our community who historically lack access to healthcare receive the vaccine. As we continue to rebuild, we must remain focused on addressing disparities in health and financial security, to ensure a brighter future for all Americans, regardless of zip code.”

“It’s been so personally beneficial for me to be involved in the work of vaccinating our communities because community is all we have,” said Davida Henderson. “Community should be protected and cherished - anything I can do to contribute to the betterment of my community, I will always do!”

With the passage of the American Rescue Plan, the average number of COVID-19 vaccinations given each day has continued to rise. As of this week, more than 200 million shots have been given during President Biden’s first 100 days in office.
