September 10, 2021

Greensboro, N.C. – Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06) released the following statement in remembrance of the 20thanniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

“Tomorrow, our nation marks the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans. On this solemn occasion, we come together as a nation to remember the loved ones lost and the countless family members, friends and colleagues whose lives that were forever changed. Those lost on that tragic day remain in our hearts and memories. It is also important to express our immense gratitude to the first responders who risked their own lives by rushing in to help, as well as so many others who offered comfort and assistance to those impacted by the terrible attack on our country. We also remember so many American heroes who have served our nation since that tragic day and remained vigilant in the fight against terrorism.

“As we gather to remember the fallen, we gain inspiration from the resilience displayed by Americans during one of our nation’s darkest hours. It is particularly important for us to remember that at a time of such fear and sorrow, our country came together with compassion, patriotism and strength, and demonstrated that the hopes, dreams and ideals that bind us together as Americans are so much stronger than the differences that some would say divide us.”
